National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing a student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at the +2 level in working for a better and improved campus-community linkage.

Objectives

  1. Understand the community in which they work
  2. Understand themselves in relation to their community
  3. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  4. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  5. Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  6. Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  7. Gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  8. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  9. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
  10. Practice national integration and social harmony

Celebration of International Yoga Day:

The NSS Unit of the College celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019 in the College hall.

Talk on Drug Abuse:

The NSS Unit of the College organised a talk on Anti- Drug Movement on 26th June 2019, in the College hall.

Cleanliness Drives:

The NSS Volunteers conducted 25 cleanliness drive from 28th June 2019 to 12th March 2020. Playground and the College premises, Class rooms, Library, Church premises, Market, Bus stand were cleaned.

Playground Cleaning Drive:

The NSS volunteers conducted playground cleaning drive on 2nd August 2019 as a part of Swachhta Pakhwara.

Organised Poster Competition:

The NSS unit of the college organised the interclass poster competition on the topic Awareness on AIDS on 1st August 2019. Overwhelming response was received for the competition. Shreya Chari (FYBA) secured 1ST Place in the competition.

Celebrated Vanamahotsava:

The NSS unit celebrated the Vanamahotsva by planting 300 saplings at Saat Devul Premises at Veroda on 17th July 2019.
