About Department

The Department of Physical Education and Sports emphasizes on the all round holistic development of students with the objective of realizing their true potential. The department aims to focus on maximum participation not just from athletes but students who are often reluctant to take part in Sports. The department seeks to systematically create a positive and a healthy competitive sports environment in the institution.

We endeavor to Educate and prepare our students to participate in various sports activities thus making them well meaningful citizen who can handle any situation with caution and care.

  5. To provide maximum facilities to our students and help support upcoming athletes in various sports.
  6. To inculcate civic responsibility in the students and creating a better citizen for the nation.

INTER COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Date: 19th to 22nd August 2025

The intercollege football tournament organized by The CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim at DSYA Ambelim and Cuncolim ground from 19th to 22nd August 2025 concluded on a high note with a thrilling display of skill, sportsmanship, and team spirit.  The tournament featured the participation of eight enthusiastic teams representing various colleges across the region.

The event kicked off with an inaugural ceremony attended by the Chied Guest Mr. Antonio Prestly Pereira, Principal of CES College, faculty members, and invited dignitaries. Spectators were treated to exciting fixtures, showcasing promising young talent and strong teamwork.

The final match witnessed a packed crowd cheering for both sides. CES College, playing on home turf, demonstrated tactical superiority and sharp finishing. Despite a spirited effort from Government College Sanquelim, CES College managed to secure a decisive 2-1 victory, clinching the championship title.

Government College Sanquelim was awarded the runners-up position, having impressed throughout the tournament with their consistent performance and resilience. Individual awards were also presented, with CES Defender Delmon Rebello being named “Player of the Tournament” for his outstanding contributions, mr. Vignesh naik of Sanquelim won best defender and Saish Gaonkar of Cuncolim won top scorer award. The finals were graced by Mr. Bibiano Fernandes India U-20 coach as the chief guest with other dignitaries.

This tournament not only celebrated football but also fostered camaraderie and healthy rivalry among colleges, encouraging students to pursue sports with passion and dedication

ICC WOMEN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Date: 16 th and 18th September 2025

The women’s football team of CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim delivered a commendable performance at the ICT Women’s Football Tournament organized by Goa University at Navelim Rosary ground on 16th and 18th September 2025.

In their first match, CES College faced Narayan Zantye College and secured a strong 2-0 victory. However, the team faced a tough challenge in the second match, where they went up against a strong opponent and unfortunately lost 0-2. Despite their best efforts and strong defence, CES College was unable to convert opportunities into goals. The match served as a valuable learning experience for the young and spirited team.

Representing CES College were 22 dedicated players:

Rehana Banu Shaikh, Mabel Roshan Fernandes, Velinda Fernandes, Selly Santana Gracias, Raisa Alba Rebello, Priya Dasharath Harijan, Muskan Nesar Shaik, Vaibhavi K Dessai, Ruchi F Naik, Ramila Chari, Mimansa R Chari, Vandhan B Murmu, Divya Deu Velip, Simron Gaonkar, Gaurisha Kakodkar, Savita Raikar, Bhavana Naik, Saesha P Velip, Aadiksha B Woilkar, Priti Kumari, Aashi Singh, and Swizel Costa.

The college community applauds the team’s efforts and sportsmanship. Their performance reflects the growing strength of women’s football at CES College, and they remain determined to come back stronger in future tournaments.

 

ICC Womens Kabaddi Championship

The CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim, achieved a remarkable victory by clinching the title at the Inter-Collegiate Women’s Kabaddi Championship organized by Goa University at Shyama Prasad Mukerji Indoor Stadium. The tournament witnessed the participation of several top women’s kabaddi teams from colleges across Goa, showcasing immense talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

In a thrilling final match, CES College emerged victorious against SSA Government college of Arts and Commerce, Pernem with a Score of 49-43. The players demonstrated agility, tactical awareness, and sheer determination, which earned them well-deserved praise from spectators and officials alike.

The coach Mr. Gokuldas Gaonkar, DSYA Kabaddi Coach and support team played a pivotal role in preparing the athletes for this intense competition. The team consisted of Prathana Velip,HarshikaVelip,RamilaChari,VandhanBMurmu,DivyaDeuVelip,SimronGaonkar,Gaurisha Kakodkar,Savita Raikar,Saesha P Velip, Aadiksha B Woilkar, Priti Kumari, Aashi Singh.

The Principal of CES College, Prof Brahma Edwin Barreto was chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony, congratulated the team and emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline and leadership among students. “This victory is not just a win on the field, but a reflection of the spirit and unity of our institution,” he said. Ms. Savita Raikar of SYBA won best player of the tournament award.

  ICT MENS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS

In an electrifying final held at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. The CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim emerged victorious against Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, with a close score line of 3-2. The match was the grand finale of the Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament organized by Goa University on 8th October 2025.

The atmosphere at the stadium was charged with excitement as both teams showcased exceptional talent and determination. CES College got off to a strong start, scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute. Rosary College quickly responded, equalizing before halftime, setting the stage for a thrilling second half. The team consisted of the following players Pranay Velip,Varkey Bhengra,Vedant Naik,Dikshay Gaonkar,Delmon Rebello,Godwin Da Costa,Ivo Costa,KeenanFernandes,PatelAnsh,Rathikvelip,Roysoncolaco,Zidanshaik,GeritoFernandes,DevaVerma,Vaibhavpvelip,Princefigueredo,Sanketvelip,SwavelCristianoFurtado,Mujafar Dhalayat,Tohid Yattanali,Saish Gaonkar,Asfin Pinto. The team was coached by Antonio Prestly Pereira.

The victory marks a significant achievement for CES College, highlighting their commitment to sports excellence. The college principal and staff and students were present to cheer the team and later congratulated them on their impressive performance.

This win not only brings glory to CES College but also inspires young footballers across the state to strive for excellence on and off the field.
